Glencoe-Radvac® (Glencoe Radon Gas Centre Ltd GRGC) was founded in 1992 by Director Philip Hancock from Weston-super-Mare in the South West of England. Philip began his own public awareness campaign on the risk from radon, concentrating his efforts in Cornwall and Northamptonshire. After a period of 22 months he had gathered a team of consultants and a radon protection advisor.
Philip also provided presentation seminars to the National Radiological Protection Board (now Public Health England), the Building Research Establishment (BRE), Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in addition to local and county councils.
Philip opened the UK’s first radon shop in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, offering advice and selling products to the public in 1993.
As a partner of Glencoe Construction (formed 1976), Philip designed and obtained a patent on the locally manufactured Radvac Radon Sump in 1995 and a European patent in 1996. Philip also provides seminars at the company’s facilities in Weston-super-Mare.
Glencoe-Radvac® was the first radon centre in the UK and was opened in November 1992.
In 1995 the Radvac radon extraction system won The Environment and Power Award at the NEC in Birmingham.
In 1996, Philip opened a Radon Gas Centre in Ireland and gave awareness to members of the public in Galway. Many installations were also carried out in Northern Ireland, Downpatrick and Belfast.Philip attended the European Parliament in Brussels and met MEP Graham Watson. Philip gave a presentation to The Belgian Buildings Research Centre and was privileged to meet government officials in France.
Television and radio stations have recorded our seminars and shown remedial systems being installed into homes and workplaces many times over the years. We introduced the first commercial Radon Extraction Kit (including DIY) and have results and laudatory letters from satisfied clients across the UK.
Glencoe-Radvac® – Glencoe Radon Gas Centre Ltd incorporated Glencoe Construction in 2009 and now operates from Unit 32, Old Worle Quarry, Lower Kewstoke Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS22 9LF.
We install our Radvac Extraction Systems to domestic and commercial properties nationwide with very successful reduction rates.

Philip Hancock and his four sons Jonathan Hancock, Ross Dyer, Michael Hancock and Daniel Hancock are all directors of GRGC, while Jonathan runs his own successful construction company, Philip, Ross, Michael and Daniel work full time for GRGC.
We are fully paid up members of the Radon Council, UKRA and ERA, our team has attended their radon training sessions and symposiums.
Glencoe-Radvac® holds current SAFEcontractor, CHAS, SMAS and Constructionline accreditation certificates which are renewed annually.
In 2009, Director Michael Hancock invented the Radvac Mini Sump and GRGC obtained a patent (GB2465751).
Since then, we have developed the product and kits for use by both DIY homeowners and remedial contractors.
More recently, we have trained a network of Electrical companies in England, Scotland and Wales and are working with property management teams. We continue to raise awareness on radon gas in homes and workplaces by using social media and working with local schools.
