Glencoe Radon Gas Centre Ltd. was formed in 1992 by Director, Philip Hancock. Philip began his own public awareness campaign on the the risk from radon, concentrating his efforts in Cornwall and Northamptonshire. After a period of 22 months he had gathered a team of consultants and radon protection advisors and given presentations to the National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB, now part of the Health Protection Agency), The Building Research Establishment (BRE), Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in addition to local and county councils.
BBC television and radio have recorded our seminars and shown remedial systems being installed into homes and workplaces. We introduced the first commercial Radon Extraction Kit (including DIY) and have results and laudatory letters from satisfied clients in Northants, Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Derbyshire and Staffordshire.
Glencoe Radon Gas Centre Ltd. and Glencoe Construction operate jointly from 287 High Street, Worle, Weston-super-Mare and Worle Quarry where we have our stores and builders yard. The latter houses our practical area for training building contractors to become radvac approved installers and to address radon remedial work. During these hands-on training sessions we strive to set standards for the industry both in the U.K. and overseas. These courses are jointly run with Somerset Scientific Services.
We install our Radvac Extraction System to domestic and commercial properties nationwide. We attend radon seminars run by local county councils, BRE and the Health Protection Agency (HPA, formerly NRPB) all over the U.K.
We now manufacture the purpose-built Radvac Fan Enclosure used to house the radon fan externally, the Radvac Vacuum Pump Fan Series 2, the 4-speed Fan Selector Series 2, and the Radvac Radon Sump DIY kit.
Phil Hancock is a registered consultant for radon mitigation.
We are members of the Radon Council and our staff have attended their radon training sessions.
Glencoe Construction also holds current SafeContractor and CHAS accreditation certificates.
