About Glencoe Radon Gas Centre ltd – Celebrating 25 years, 1992-2017
Glencoe Radon Gas Centre Ltd was formed in 1992 in Weston-super-Mare by Director Philip Hancock. Philip began his own public awareness campaign on the risk from radon, concentrating his efforts in Cornwall and Northamptonshire. After a period of 22 months he had gathered a team of consultants and a radon protection advisor and given presentations to the National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB), now Public Health England, The Building Research Establishment (BRE), Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in addition to local and county councils.
In 1993 GRGC opened the country’s first radon shop in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, offering advice and selling products to the public.
Glencoe Radon Gas Centre Ltd incorporated Glencoe Construction in 2009 and now operates from Unit 32, Old Worle Quarry, Lower Kewstoke Road, Worle, Weston-super-Mare, BS22 9LF, where we also have a practical area for training contractors to become radvac approved installers and to address radon remedial work. During these hands-on training sessions we strive to set standards for the industry both in the UK and overseas.
We install our Radvac Extraction Systems to domestic and commercial properties nationwide with very successful reduction rates.
We now manufacture and/or assemble our Radvac Stainless Steel Fan enclosure Series 3, our Radvac Vacuum Pump Fan Series 2, our Radvac Radon Mini Sump and the Radon Fan Kits in house to ensure the best quality products possible at the most competitive prices. Check them out at our online shop!
Philip Hancock and his four sons Jonathan Hancock, Ross Dyer, Michael Hancock and Daniel Hancock are all directors of GRGC, while Jonathan and Ross run their own successful companies, Michael and Daniel both work full time for GRGC.
We are fully paid up members of the Radon Council, UKRA and ERA, our team has attended their radon training sessions and symposiums.
In 2009 Michael invented the Radvac Radon Mini Sump and GRGC obtained a patent (GB2465751) since then, we have developed the product and kits for use by both DIY homeowners and remedial contractors.
More recently, we have trained a network of Electrical companies in England, Scotland and Wales and are working with property management teams. We continue to raise awareness on radon gas in homes and workplaces by using social media and working with local schools.
